Dr. Dennis Gross account executive Jesse Teplow met aesthetician Sasha Banner at BeautyCon LA 2018 and the two skincare enthusiasts quickly bonded. Standing in our DDG booth, they swapped skincare stories and Sasha could not believe Jesse’s B&A photos from our one month Alpha Beta® Peel challenge. Beyond impressed Sasha decided to try the peel challenge herself and within two days she noticed that her skin looked more radiant; in just three weeks she noticed significant changes in her once stubborn hyperpigmentation and uneven skin texture. Fast forward four months and Sasha is now not only a peel addict, but a DDG product believer (and has the glowing skin and confidence to prove it!)
We are so proud to be a part of Sasha’s journey and she is insistent on sharing her progress with the world because “Everyone needs to know how incredible these peels are!”

Please tell us about your skincare journey!
For the most part I’ve always had pretty decent skin. As a teenager, I lucked out and never suffered from acne. My mother always insisted that I take care of my skin growing up. It wasn’t until 2 years ago when I moved from New York to California that I noticed a drastic difference in my skin. Between the stress of moving across country and climate changes my skin went haywire! I was devastated to be experiencing acne for the first time at the age of 30! In addition to acne breakouts, I have a hormonal condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which causes women to grow unwanted facial hair, especially around the jaw line area. The combination of my breakouts coupled with me waxing, tweezing and threading my unsightly hairs made for the perfect cocktail for hyperpigmentation.
Was hyperpigmentation your #1 skincare concern?
Yes! I started laser hair removal which got rid of the hairs, but the dark scars were still there and made me very self conscious.
In the before photo, what was your skincare regimen like?
In my before pictures my skincare routine was mostly plant based. It did a great job at keeping my skin hydrated and but I was in desperate need of something that was more treatment based.
To achieve your incredible, glowing skin in the after photo, what changes did you make to your routine?
Honestly, I started using the Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel and the Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peels! I used my normal moisturizer since it kept me hydrated. It only took 2 days using the AB peels to notice that my skin looked more radiant and felt softer!
What was the length of time between your remarkable before and after shots?
Only 4 months! At first I used the peels 3x per week because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too much on my face. I then gradually worked up to daily use and haven’t looked back!
How did you find out about Dr. Dennis Gross products? And what convinced you to begin a skincare journey with us?
It’s actually a funny story. Prior to May 2018 I had never heard of Dr. Dennis Gross. I found out about the product when my girlfriends and I went to Beauty Con, LA. Dr. Dennis Gross had a booth set up and a game where participants went up to this giant wall of all Dr. Gross products. If you chose a box with product in it, it was yours! I lucked out and chose a winning box. It was a one month supply of Alpha Beta Universal Peels. After using the product and seeing results I was so impressed that I had to reach out and share!
How long did it take for you to see a significant change in your skin using our products?
I would say I noticed significant changes in my skin after 3 weeks of consistent use.
What are your go-to DG skincare products? And what is on your product wish list?
Definitely the Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleaning Gel and the Daily Universal peels! I couldn’t imagine my skin care regimen without them. As for wish list, I want to try the Hyaluronic Marine line! especially the molding mask and serum booster.
What is your current AM/PM routine? Please walk us through it!
In the AM, I cleanse with Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleaning Gel and moisturize. PM I use the same cleanser but I also include the Daily Universal Peels along with a night time moisturizer. From time to time I’ll try a new mask but sadly I’m not loyal to any one particular mask.
Winter is coming! How are you prepping your skin for the change in season?
I haven’t found a specific skincare product but I have started to add Vitamin E oil to my moisturizer and it seems to be helping.
And finally, what is your top piece of skincare wisdom you’d like to impart upon our readers?
CONSISTENCY is so IMPORTANT! I can’t stress enough how important it is that clients give their skin time to adjust to a product. The skin is so resilient and will take to a product with time. I am guilty of not giving products enough time to “do their thing.” Also, SUNSCREEN! No matter what ethnicity, sunscreen is so important. As a black woman I took for granted that my extra melanin made me less susceptible to sun burn. What I failed to take into account was because I was already dealing with hyperpigmentation, sun exposure was making my dark marks even darker.
Thank you for sharing your story, Sasha! You are GLOWING.
