She’s the beauty buff behind the famed Hidden Harmony World, an industry blog and weighs in on what is (and isn’t!) the creme-de-la-creme in make up and skincare.
We catch up with Binita and talk all things skin, peel addiction and saying good bye to pesky dark spots.
How did you learn about Dr Dennis Gross?
My first introduction to the brand was through their infamous peels. I explored the universal peels and soon after progressed to Extra Strength. As age progressed, I was curious about retinol and had heard some horror stories on retinol use. I knew I could trust Dr. DG retinol as it would not strip and ruin my skin. There came in my second fave Ferulic + Retinol Brightening Solution (which also addressed previous scarring). How did you get to know the brand?
What was the biggest change you’ve seen in your skin?
Since I was 15, I have suffered with relentless spots and battled with skin and emotions that come in that space. With that, also come uneven tone, texture, scarring, and lot of congestion. Ever since I religiously used peels and retinol, I have noticed even tone and texture, and can better predict if I would be having a spot or not.
Predictable in terms of when I would get a spot and where – as an example I know if it would be hormonal on jaw or spot on my cheek because I decided to touch my face with filthy hands.
Describe your feelings on Dr. Dennis Gross skincare in 5 words.
Acid love, amazed, glowing, reliable/dependent, noticeable difference.
When was your ‘AHA’ moment using DG?
My AHA moment was when I used Ferulic + Retinol Brightening Solution consistently for 7 days on my travel back home. My skin has never looked better, I was traveling without any makeup and I realized it was attributed to the Brightening Solution. As soon as I returned to the States, I purchased my back up.
Are you surprised by anything? With results or any product.
Before I started using peels I cancelled most products with Alcohol Denat (known to strip and dry the skin). When I used this I didn’t experience any symptoms usually noted with use of Alcohol Denat. I think this can be narrowed down to the formulation and I was left pleasantly surprised.
Secondly, when Ferulic + Retinol Overnight Serum was launched I was perplexed. I was wondering why would they launch another serum in the same range when they have a star called Brightening Solution. I obviously loved the packaging (airtight pump) of new serum (10/10) however after using it a few times I realized it had slightly different effect on skin (more firming and overall good skin in a bottle). Analyzed the ingredients lists (as you do!) and noted its Niacinamide heaven! Eventually I decided to layer the products (brightening solution and overnight serum), my skin looked phenomenal. I’ve stopped wearing full coverage foundation!
Do you have a ‘can’t live without’ product?
Dr. DG peels, if they ever decide to discontinue the peels I’d have a serious bone to pick with Dr. DG and Carrie Gross. Alternatively, they can adopt me so we can ‘peel’ as a family.
On a serious note, the peels travel with me everywhere as they’re individually packaged making my travel bag uber-light. Also for long haul flights back home can range from 108 hours and I need those peels to keep my skin sane.
Would you call yourself a peel addict? For life.
YES!!! I’ve used the Universal, Extra Strength, Medi-Spa, Ferulic + Retinol and love every single one of them. Would take it to my coffin with my beloved Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm.
